Why Should You Trust Your Coach?

Every runner in the world has a coach. From professionals, to middle school. Sometimes a coach can be your father, mother, brother, or any type of relative. A coach is someone who pushes you to do your best all the time. Now, there is a question that has been unanswered for the longest time. Why should we trust our coaches?

Coaches Have Important Tactics

A coach knows what is most important to you and your team! If your coach tells you to run some “flush-out strides”, you might want to do them because they know that your body probably needs a few. If your coach instructs you to be drinking water, you need to drink water because they know what water does to your body. But they know more than “health” important, they also know “goals” important. A lot of runners have goals of trying to run a certain time. Coaches can get you there. They know what’s important to achieve these goals.

“Running in Their Footsteps”

You create footsteps when you run. You definitely cannot forget that your coach made those same footsteps before you.  Every mistake you have made as a runner, your coach has got experience to handle your mistake. Some coaches have one big championship win under their belt so they know how to make you a decent runner to go to a big championship meet. You are literally running in their footsteps most of the time. The amount of experience a coach has is beneficial to you and your entire team!

When I asked Jordan Webster, a Track and Cross Country runner from Mandarin High School, if he trusted his coach and why, he said, Yes because he is wise and very full of knowledge. He's had experience as a coach for many years now, learning facts and details about the sport enough to make winners and champions. I trust my coach because of his past experiences.”

College Scholarships

Think about this, every runner wants to have a college scholarship. Coaches also want to get college scholarships for their runners. When a coach sends off an athlete to college, they feel successful! They coached someone onto a college running career! It gives them a feeling of pride and accomplishment!

Ka’Deem Wynn, a Flagler Palm Coast Track and C.C. runner says that he trusts his coach. “I trust my coach because he’s molded and shaped me into one of the top runners in the State!” Coaches don’t just do great things to their athletes just to do it. They do it to see their athletes become successful like they have. Trusting your coaches shouldn’t be questioned. They love you and want the best for you and your team at all times.
